Overview of Changes to County Health Department Services

Tri-County Health Department formally dissolved December 31, 2022, which resulted in Adams County, Arapahoe County and Douglas County to operate individual public health departments beginning January 1, 2023. To serve the Town of Bennett, Adams and Arapahoe County Health Departments are now in place for health department services and guidelines. Below is an overview of each County’s information, areas of priorities and how they will serve the Town of Bennett. Adams and Arapahoe County have kept the same locations and most of the same staff that Tri-County Health had.

Palmer Avenue Road Closure 5/1/23 – 5/12/23

UPDATE: Due to weather and construction delays, Palmer Avenue will remain closed through Friday, May 12, 2023.

In order to continue the installation of Purple Pipe under the Union Pacific Railroad, Palmer Avenue will be closed Colfax Avenue (HWY 36) to 1st Street beginning Monday, May 1, 2023 to Friday, May 12, 2023. 

One lane of Palmer Avenue will be opened during Bennett School District drop off from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and pickup from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Town of Bennett Million Gallon Water Tank Now Online

The Town of Bennett celebrated the new one-million-gallon water storage tank going online with a ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

The new steel tank replaced a concrete water tank and helps improve the Town’s water capacity and ability to serve all current and future residents.

Coffee with Community Services - Homeowner Permits

The Town of Bennett is hosting a free Coffee with Community Services event. 

This month, join us for information on homeowner permits and learn which projects require permits from the Town.

Board of Trustees Pass Resolution Opposing Senate Bill 23-213

The Board of Trustees approved a resolution that opposes the Statewide Land Use and Zoning Preemptions in Senate Bill 23-213.

The Board feels the Town and other municipalities are best suited to determine appropriate zoning laws for their communities and that collaboration and cooperation, not statewide mandates, are a better solution to the topic of affordable housing in Colorado. 

Emergency Warning Siren Test

The Bennett emergency outdoor warning siren will be tested on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 12 noon. Please DO NOT call 911 when the siren sounds. Dispatch phone lines need to be kept open and available for emergency calls. 

Oil Recycling Update

Effective immediately, the Town of Bennett can no longer accept oil for recycling at our Public Works facilities. 

Please find alternative recycling locations. If you have additional questions, contact the Public Works Department.

ADA Advisory Committee

The Town of Bennett is looking for residents to be a part of its ADA Advisory Committee. 

This committee provides feedback and recommendations on ADA compliance in pedestrian facilities, public right-of-way, parks and more. 

2023 Bennett Gives Back Grant

The Town of Bennett is now accepting applications for the 2023 Bennett Gives Back Grant (BGB). 

The BGB Grant may provide up to 90% of the costs of a qualifying event, project, program or activity in an amount up to $10,000 per organization. The purpose of the program is for eligible organizations and special districts to obtain additional resources to help supplement services or resources provided to the residents of Bennett. 

Applications for the grant are due May 13, 2023.
