Water Main Break - June 1, 2003

UPDATE: Water has been restored. Please run water for several minutes before use.

There was a water main break today at 1st St. and Washington Ave. Crews are on site. Water will be shut off for all homes between 1st St. and 3rd St. on Washington. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Reduced Building Permit Fee Month

June is Reduced Building Permit Fee Month for homeowners! 

Get your permit during the month of June and permit fees will be reduced by 50% on some home projects. 

Permit fees on projects including siding, windows, fences, reroofing, decks, AC improvements, furnace replacements, water/sewer repairs and water heaters will be reduced by 50% during the month of June.

The goal is to help residents with the cost of permit fees and still encourage home improvement projects. 

Kids Fishing Day - Event Postponed

The rain storms from last week caused damage to the BRPOS Fishing Pond so we must postpone the Kid's Fishing Day on May 26th.

This is a kids only event, ages 8-16, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to the first 50 participants.

Please bring your own fishing poles and bait. The pond is stocked with rainbow trout and each participant may keep two fish. Catch and release is required after two fish. 

Registration is currently full. 

 

Town of Bennett Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Public Works Facility

The Town of Bennett celebrated the opening of a new public works facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The Northern Municipal Complex (NOMCOM) serves as the home of the Town’s Public Works Department and will be an integral part of the Town’s ability to continue to provide services to the Bennett Community. 

A portion of the funding for the project came from the Department of Local Affairs. 

The Town first broke ground on this project in August, 2021. 

Overview of Changes to County Health Department Services

Tri-County Health Department formally dissolved December 31, 2022, which resulted in Adams County, Arapahoe County and Douglas County to operate individual public health departments beginning January 1, 2023. To serve the Town of Bennett, Adams and Arapahoe County Health Departments are now in place for health department services and guidelines. Below is an overview of each County’s information, areas of priorities and how they will serve the Town of Bennett. Adams and Arapahoe County have kept the same locations and most of the same staff that Tri-County Health had.

Palmer Avenue Road Closure 5/1/23 – 5/12/23

UPDATE: Due to weather and construction delays, Palmer Avenue will remain closed through Friday, May 12, 2023.

In order to continue the installation of Purple Pipe under the Union Pacific Railroad, Palmer Avenue will be closed Colfax Avenue (HWY 36) to 1st Street beginning Monday, May 1, 2023 to Friday, May 12, 2023. 

One lane of Palmer Avenue will be opened during Bennett School District drop off from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and pickup from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
