Bennett Recognizes Local Students for Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards

The Town of Bennett recognized four local students for the Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards at the Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday March 10, 2020.

This is the first year the Town of Bennett had four students nominated for the award. This year’s nominees were Tessa Mosher (7th grade), Miakoda Seybolt (8th grade), Cassidy Sherman (8th grade) and Ella Olson (12th grade).

The Adams County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Awards is a program that recognizes youth in sixth grade to senior year and up to 20 years’ old who have overcome personal adversity to create positive change in their lives.

Public Relations Coordinator, Alison Belcher, said “I’m so glad that the Town participates in this award, I love that we are able to recognize students who have been through so much in their young lives and be able to give back to them. This award is an opportunity for the Town to show our support for the young people in our community.”

Recipients are determined through a nomination and selection process. The Town of Bennett collaborated with Bennett High School, Bennett Middle School, Teens Living Clean and Communities that Care to nominate students who stood out for overcoming hardships in their lives.

All nominees are recognized at the local level by individual jurisdictions. A selection committee comprised of representatives from the county and local jurisdictions screens all nominations and selects 20 nominees to be recognized at a county-wide celebration in the spring of each year.
