Town of Bennett to Begin Backfill and Paving of Skate Bowl in Trupp Park

Starting October 7, 2020, the Town of Bennett will begin to backfill the skate bowl in Trupp Park.

The concrete skate bowl will be filled and paved over the top to make it a flat surface. Small amenities such as a shade structure and benches will be installed to provide a safe and comfortable area to watch the users of the skate and bike park.

The Town will not be changing the construction of the ramp leading up to the skate bowl.

In 2017 the Town renovated the skate and bicycle playground. At the time, the Town kept the existing concrete skate bowl hoping that the renovation would deter vandalism or damage to the park feature. Unfortunately, since the renovation, several sections on the concrete bowl have been broken and removed and vandalism to the bowl continues.

In order to mitigate these safety concerns, the Town made the difficult decision to backfill and pave the skate bowl.

This work is part of Phase IV improvements to Trupp Park that were funded by an Adams County Open Space Grant. Other projects during this phase include realignment of the soccer fields, fixing drainage in the area, irrigation improvements and adding additional landscaping.
