Resurfacing and Culvert Work on CO Highway 79 full closure

The Colorado Department of Transportation will be replacing a culvert on Colorado Highway 79. 

The culvert will replace existing an culvert on CO 79 between CR 4 and CR 6. The culverts will be up sized and lengthened to allow for better drainage and safer, more resilient roadways. 

Full Closure Detour
CO 79 will be fully closed to thru traffic between CR 4 and CR 6 from July 5 through 15.  

  • Northbound CO 79 will turn west on E 144th Ave, northbound Imboden Rd, to east on E 152nd Ave, to north on Hayesmount Rd, to west on E 168th Ave, to north on I-76 to rejoin CO 52. 
  • Southbound CO 79 will turn west on CO 52, to south on I-76, to east on E 168th Ave, to south on Hayesmount Rd, to east on E 152nd Ave, to south on Imboden Rd, to east on E 144th Ave, to rejoin CO 52.

Travel Impacts

  • Construction signs, cones and devices will be present 24/7
  • All construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
  • Lane closures and other traffic notices are posted weekly on COTrip.org.
  • Final roadway work will include striping, guardrail and shoulder work. 
  • Daytime working hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Vehicles may be reduced to a single-lane, alternating traffic intermittently in either direction, throughout the duration of the project. These lane closures, guided by flaggers, may have up to 15-minute delays. The speed limit in the work zone will be 40 mph (or less, as posted). Road work is expected to be complete by mid-August.
