Mayor Whitney Oakley Takes Oath of Office

The Town of Bennett welcomed its new Mayor, Whitney Oakley, with great enthusiasm as she took the oath of office during the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday night. 

After serving as Trustee and Mayor Pro Tem for the past four year, Mayor Oakley brings experience and understanding of Bennett’s needs and goals for the Town’s future. 

Mayor Oakley stated she was encouraged and excited for what the next four years would bring and expressed gratitude to the residents of Bennett as well as her fellow Trustees and Town Staff for supporting her as she takes on this new role. 

“I’m here to support you [the residents],” said Oakley, “I can’t wait to see where the future of Bennett takes us together.”

Mayor Oakley has lived in Bennett for eight years and is currently also the manager at the Bennett Branch of Anythink Library. 

Trustees Royce D. Pindell, Denice Smith, Donna Sus and Larry Vittum were also sworn into the office of Trustee during the meeting. Pindell, Smith and Sus will serve a four-year term ending in 2028 and Vittum will serve a two-year term ending in 2026. 

Board meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
