In order to maintain proper street conditions, the Town of Bennett Public Works Department will begin crack sealing roads throughout town on September 22, 2020.

The public works department is asking residents to park their vehicles off the streets during the time they are working on their roads. A tentative schedule of the road maintenance is listed below. This schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.

  • 9/22/2020 - Brothers Four, beginning on Custer Street and moving West to Ash Street.
  • 9/23/2020 - Brothers Four, Elbert Street, Pike Street, Adams Street, Elm Street and Cherry Street.
  • 9/24/2020 - Brothers Four, Elm Street, Dahlia street, Cherry Street, Birch Street and Ash Street,
  • 9/25/2020 - Old Town, School District Area. 6th and Lincoln, 7th Street, 8th Street, Sharis Court and Washington Way

The intent of crack sealing is to eliminate open areas where water and moisture can penetrate to the substrate beneath the road surface. When that happens, it can cause soil destabilization, which can lead to roadway issues like potholes, excessive cracking and heaving or sinking of the roads themselves. This process protects and extends the lives of our roadways.
